Vortrag: "UN-Peacekeeping im 21. Jahrhundert"

Am 11. Dezember 2012 spricht Herr Simon Riesche von UNRIC – Regionales Informationszentrum für Westeuropa zum Thema "UN-Peacekeeping im 21. Jahrhundert". Der Vortrag bildet den Auftakt der Vortragsreihe "Die Vereinten Nationen im 21. Jahrhundert: Neue Herausforderungen im Zeitalter der Globalisierung", welche vom Bereich Internationale Politik und der AG Friedens- und Konfliktforschung in Kooperation mit UNRIC und der Deutschen Gesellschaft für die Vereinten Nationen (DGVN) durchgeführt wird.

Podiumsdiskussion: "Die USA vor den Präsidentschaftswahlen – Noch eine Chance für Obama?"

Am 6. November fällt die Entscheidung im Rennen um die US-Präsidentschaft. Bisher ist es denkbar knapp zwischen den Bewerbern Obama und Romney. Kurz vor der Wahl, am 19. Oktober 2012 laden der Lehrstuhl für Internationale Politik und die Friedrich-Naumann-Stiftung zur Podiumsdiskussion, Thema: "Die USA vor den Präsidentschaftswahlen - Noch eine Chance für Obama?"

Doch es geht nicht nur um die Frage wer die nächsten vier Jahre im Oval Office sitzt, sondern auch um die zukünftige Politik der USA, die Gestaltung der transatlantischen Beziehungen und vieles mehr. Es diskutieren:

“Theorising Regionalism and External Influence: A Situation-structural Approach” continues the MPIEP series

The International Relations Unit at the Department of Political Science is proud to announce the second contribution to its new series of working papers, the Mainz Papers on International and European Politics (MPIEP): “Theorising Regionalism and External Influence: A Situation-structural Approach” authored by Johannes Muntschick (University of Mainz) continues the MPIEP series. The paper proposes an innovative theoretical approach to the analysis of regionalism by taking the impact of extra-regional relations and the influence of external actors explicitly into account. Its central assumptions are elucidated by brief plausibility probes on empirical examples from the Southern African Development Community (SADC), notably concerning regional economic, infrastructure and security cooperation.

New: Mainz Papers on International and European Politics

The International Relations Unit at the Department of Political Science is proud to announce a new series of working papers, the Mainz Papers on International and European Politics (MPIEP).

The papers are based on current projects of the International Relations Unit and contributions of visiting researchers at the Department of Political Science at the University of Mainz. MPIEP constitute work in progress and are generally intended for submission to reviewed journals at a later stage.
