Organizational issues:
- Attendance in class is obligatory
- Task assignment and presentation in the second part of the seminar

This seminar is supposed to provide Europamaster students with some basic insights that are necessary and helpful for writing their MA thesis in the fourth semester of the MA in European Studies. The two main (interlinked) aspects that will particularly be dealt with in this course are (1) the research question (what constitutes a relevant and salient research question in the social sciences broadly interpreted?), and (2) the research plan (what elements should a convincing research plan/expose contain?). Hence, this course will guide you on the first steps towards your MA thesis.The course is composed of a (small) number of in-class seminar sessions and the possibility for individual consultations. In order to pass the course students have to submit a an expose/research plan containing their (potential) research question, a short literature review (state of the art), the value added of the project, and some reflection in terms of how it can be operationalised.
